On November 10, 1999, Wietse Venema received the SAGE 1999 Outstanding Achievement Award, "for his continual work in helping to improve computer security through the development of System Administration tools."

SAGE, The System Administrators Guild, is a Special Technical Group of the USENIX Association. SAGE aims to advance the status of computer system administration as a profession.

The award was presented at the 13th System administration conference In Seattle, WA, USA, in a short ceremony immediately before the keynote address.

The award is a curved piece of glass of approximately 27x15 centimeters (10.5x6 inch). Click on the image for a larger view.
